The Hephaestus FireEngineX Battery 12V 18Ah is the sealed battery we supply for the FireEngineX fire pump, and it is the only pump it is sold for.
FireEngineX supports an optional 12V 18Ah battery for electric start: key ignition for fast emergency response, with the pull cord as backup if the battery is flat.
FireEngineX starts on the recoil cord with no battery fitted, so this is the convenience of key starting rather than a part the pump cannot run without.

Does my FireEngineX need this battery?
No. FireEngineX starts on the recoil cord with no battery fitted. The battery is what gives you key starting, which matters when you are starting a pump in the dark or in a hurry.
Will it fit my other Hephaestus pump?
It is sold for the FireEngineX. The other pumps in the range take their own capacities, and we list each battery against the one pump it is supplied for, so you are never matching a terminal layout by eye.
How is it supplied?
In Cyprus we hand it over in person rather than shipping it, which is how every battery on this site is supplied. Outside Cyprus, source one locally to the specification above and we will confirm the fit.
How should I store it between seasons?
For long idle periods or winter storage, disconnect the battery and keep it on a suitable maintainer. Store the pump dry, ventilated, and off the floor.
Does it need topping up or maintenance?
No. It is a sealed VRLA AGM battery in a leak- and spill-proof container, so there is nothing to top up and nothing to spill if it is knocked over in a shed.
