How to add it

1. Copy this code.

   Defensible space check

   Twelve questions about a home, then a list of what to do first.

   <div class="hfs-tool" data-tool="defensible-space" data-lang="en">
     <a href="https://hephaestus.solutions/tools/defensible-space-check/">Defensible space check by Hephaestus Fire Solutions</a>
   </div>
   <script src="https://hephaestus.solutions/tools/embed.js" async></script>

   Defensible space check by Hephaestus Fire Solutions

   The real tool, served from our site, exactly as it would run on yours.

   Pool and tank volume

   How much water a pool or tank holds, and how long it would last with a fire pump.

   <div class="hfs-tool" data-tool="pool-tank-volume" data-lang="en">
     <a href="https://hephaestus.solutions/tools/pool-and-tank-volume/">Pool and tank volume calculator by Hephaestus Fire Solutions</a>
   </div>
   <script src="https://hephaestus.solutions/tools/embed.js" async></script>

   Copy the code
   See it running

   Nothing loads until you tap this. What appears is the tool itself, not a picture of it.

   Tree fire risk check

   Five questions about each tree near a home, then what to do about it and what the rules say.

   <div class="hfs-tool" data-tool="tree-fire-risk" data-lang="en">

   Wildfire season calendar

   The dates a country sets, for a reader’s own region: clearing deadlines, fire seasons and burning bans, each with its source.

   <div class="hfs-tool" data-tool="fire-season-calendar" data-lang="en">

   Wildfire Action Card

   A household’s plan on one page: trigger, water, who does what, exit and what to take, with the reader’s own country’s official advice beside it.

   <div class="hfs-tool" data-tool="wildfire-action-card" data-lang="en">

2. Paste it into your page where you want the check to appear. In WordPress, use a Custom HTML block. On other platforms, look for an HTML or embed block.

3. Write a few paragraphs of your own around it. Search engines may count what is inside the check as part of our website, not yours, so a page that holds nothing but the check is unlikely to be found in search. Tell your readers why it matters where they live, and the page is yours.

What your readers see

Each tool shows our logo at the top, and a line below it that links to us. It fits the width of your page, down to a small phone, and grows as the reader uses it, so it never leaves an empty space or cuts off.

There is nothing to sign up for and it never asks for an email address. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your readers' devices.

If a tool cannot load, your readers see a plain link to it on our site instead.

Language

Each tool appears in the language of your page. Where your page is in a language we do not have yet, the tools appear in English until we add yours. To choose the language yourself, change data-lang="en" in the code.

What we ask in return

The tools are free to use, on as many pages as you like. We ask one thing: keep the line below each tool that credits us, and keep it visible. If your site marks outside links as nofollow or sponsored, that is fine.

Please do not change the tools or cover any part of them.

If you run a large site and would rather show a tool without the credit line, write to us at info@hephaestus.solutions and we will talk about it.

What we learn from it

When a tool loads on your page, it tells us the address of your website and whether the credit line is showing. That is how we know where the tools are used. Nothing about your readers is sent: no cookie, no identifier.

When someone finishes the defensible space check, their answers are added to running totals. Only the totals are kept, so nobody's answers can be picked out or traced back to them. We publish what the totals show on the check's own page. The volume calculator and the tree check keep none of the answers.
